Harley Goodacre
Bells Beach Brewing
This week, we enjoyed a beer with Harley Goodacre from All Inn Brewing Co. After years of working in breweries — in a wide range of roles from bottling hand to head brewer — Harley’s hunger to own his very own brewery had gotten the better of him. Discover how he named the brewery, best beers to enjoy and can he settle our debate pineapple on pizza Yes or No?!
BEER WITH THE BREWER
1. How was the brewery named?
The brewery started 12 years ago and was aptly named All Inn Brewing Co as Harley started it with every cent he had, hence “All Inn”
2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now?
A combo between Pale Ale due to its delicious hoppiness and Japanese Lager as its crushable in the hot summer heat.
3. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?
No pineapple! Traditional only, just like our beers are true to style.
4. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?
Trappist Westvleteren. the history of the monks brewing beer is just so appealing, however I doubt the monks would let a sinner like me into the monastery.
5. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:
- a beach beer? Calls for crisp and refreshing just like our Japanese Lager
- an airport beer? depends on the duration of flight or destination, but a big Hazy or Red IPA will ensure you can relax.
- the end of the day beer? Anything your heart desires as long as its cold, wet and delicious.
- the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer? Has to be a AIBC Pale Ale, American styled and enough flavour to complement any dish.
- to kick back and watch sport with? Has to be an American Pale Ale, so moreish 1 is never enough.
Cheers!
