Miners Gold Brewery
We recently chatted all things Miners Gold Brewery with Head Brewer, Stuart Grant. From the practical brewery name and advice for visiting the brewery, all time favourite brewer’s hop, and why beer lovers should support local craft beer…
BEER WITH THE BREWER
1. How was the brewery named?
We’re based in Beaconsfield which has a rich history of gold mining, so the brewery practically named itself!
2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now?
Apart from a range of our own beers (because quality assurance is important!), I love to sample what other Tassie brewers are making – have enjoyed a few Du Cane Pales and some limiteds from Spotty Dog most recently. My cellar has a bunch of barrel-aged sours from Belgium and Wildflower.
3. Best tip for visiting the brewery?
Get someone to drive you, then settle in next to the fire with a tasting paddle (8 x 100mL samples) and a parmy.
4. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?
Pfft! Obviously yes. Sweet, sour, savoury.
5. If you can only use one hop for the rest of your life, what is it?
My answer would probably change week to week, but I’d be hard pressed to go past Vic Secret.
6. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?
Jester King outta Texas, I reckon.
7. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:
- a beach beer? Miners Gold Feijoa Sour
- an airport beer? Miners Gold Stout
- the end of the day beer? Miners Gold Fog on the Tamar hazy pale
- the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer? A-Frame Pilsner
- to kick back and watch sport with? Miners Gold Happy Place Hoppy Midstrength
8. What’s the future of craft and can Craft Cartel beer lovers get on board?
Support your local brewer(s)! Every dollar you spend will stay in the community – it’s like you’re investing in your local community!
Cheers!
