Tallboy & Moose
Here’s what we uncovered over a beer with Jack Ledingham from Tallboy & Moose this week. Tallboy & Moose is a 100% independently owned brewery, we hope you enjoy this 2 minute read! Discover Jack’s best tip to visit the brewery, his go-to brews and what he thinks about the future of the craft beer industry…
BEER WITH THE BREWER
1. How was the brewery named?
The brewery was named after the two founders, Dan and Steve. Dan is really tall and Steve is really Canadian.
2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now?
Between being at the brewery and different trade events, I don’t actually drink much beer at home. However I believe I have a couple of different IPA’s and a good selection of local lagers, and then there’s the beer cupboard which is chock-full of Lambics, Tripels and Quads.
3. Best tip for visiting the brewery?
Steak night on a Wednesday is a winner and you can even add a side of poutine. Also, keep your eyes peeled for our next wrestling event, it’s always a great night.
4. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?
Yes but I don’t feel good about it!
5. If you can only use one hop for the rest of your life, what is it?
Vic Secret or Saaz
6. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?
I would love to do a Lager with The Albert Brewery, I’ve loved their beers recently.
7. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:
- a beach beer? Not strictly a beer but it has to be a Lagerita, which is essentially a margarita topped with lager
- an airport beer? 3 pints of Guinness
- the end of the day beer? A good ESB on hand pump
- the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer? Depends on the meal, but my favourite combo is a spicy curry and a tasty IPA
- to kick back and watch sport with? Deadset Lager of course!
8. What’s the future of craft and how can Craft Cartel beer lovers get on board?
I think the craft beer industry has always been about getting great beers in people’s hands, and we are currently in a place where it’s hard to find a bad independent craft beer. So I am quietly confident that the industry in Australia has many more fruitful years to come. We will keep making great beer, you guys focus on drinking great beer!
Cheers!
