BEER WITH THE BREWER

1. How was the brewery named?

Named after the Viking idea of heaven where you are reunited with family and friends in the afterlife and get to hang out and drink beer and tell stories for the rest of eternity. We reckoned it was a great name for a brewery!

2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now? 

Got a bit of our Valhalla Loki 3.3% Red Ale at the moment. It’s a great full flavoured beer but as a mid-strength you can sit on it all day or night. Plus, some Genesis 8.8% Double Black Ale for settling into the couch on a Winter’s night!

3. Best tip for visiting the brewery?

Don’t be in a hurry! With free pool and jukebox, it’s a great place to hang for a long afternoon.

4. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?

No.

5. If you can only use one hop for the rest of your life, what is it?

Probably Ella, its versatile and can be used in a wide variety of beer styles.

6. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?

TRVE Brewing in Denver Colorado have great branding, brew awesome beers and have a very heavy metal vibe which we love!

7. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:

• a beach beer? Valhalla Lime Tart Sour
• an airport beer? Valhalla Tropical IPA
• the end of the day beer? Valhalla GT Lager
• the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer?Depends on the meal but let’s go with Valhalla Ziggy Red IPA
• to kick back and watch sport with? Valhalla Golden Ale

8. What’s the future of craft and can Craft Cartel beer lovers get on board?

I think the future of Craft beer is focusing on supporting your local independent brewery. Learning more about local breweries and supporting them is the best way to make the craft beer industry survives and thrives.
