Friday Frothies – Prancing Pony India Red Ale Review

Tania’s Friday Staff Pick!
Prancing Pony India Red Ale
ABV: 7.9%

Being an Adelaide girl, I thought it was my duty to try this little Adelaide Hills number by Prancing Pony Brewery.

This India Red Ale was not what I was expecting. It was incredibly full bodied and much richer than other red ales I have had in the past. The first thing I noticed was the colour – a dark red, deep caramel like colour in the glass. Although it was quite rich, in no way was it overpowering (I polished this off pre-dinner).

It was balanced with tropical aromas and just a slight bitterness on the finish. This beer was crowned the world’s best beer at the International Beer Challenge in 2016. So, the Adelaide Hills not only produces great wines, but their beers are also world class (yes, I am being parochial now).

Look forward to stopping off at Prancing Pony on my next home visit!
