Mountain Culture Autopilot Oat Cream IPA

TASTING NOTES

Autopilot is an all-American hopped Oat Cream IPA and one they really pushed the limits with. To start, they pushed the chloride:sulfate ratio as far as theycould, then threw in their largest percentage of rolled and flaked adjuncts to increase the haze and mouthfeel. And now for the important part… They threw in six of their favourite American hops including Idaho 7 cryo, Citra cryo and Amarillo as late whirlpool additions and then excessive amounts of Citra cryo, Idaho 7 cryo and Mosaic over two separate dry hops. Finally, they borrowed their house hazy strain from Be Kind Rewind and Status Quo to push those fruity hops to the highest level!

BREWERY SNAPSHOT

Built-in 1912 in the beautiful Blue Mountains town of Katoomba, Mountain Culture’s building housed ‘The Echo’, the local paper for many a year. Later it allegedly passed time as a “dancing saloon and home for lost or belated drunks”, until finally ending up as a Civic Video store. In 2017 DJ and Harriet McCready embarked on transforming the dilapidated building into the first brewpub in the Blue Mountains. After 18 long months of careful renovation, they opened the doors with the goal of welcoming people from near and far to come in and have a beer. But not just any beer. Rather, they hold themselves accountable to a standard that means constantly pushing the limit and pushing themselves to figure out how they can brew better beer, every batch. Because let’s face it, life is short. They have no time for beers that don’t blow their hair back, and nor should you.
