1. How was the brewery named?
It is the Sanskrit word for the fifth element: the “unknown” added ingredient that brings the others – water, earth, wind and fire – together. I think brewing is such a multi-faceted process. There’s definitely elements of science and creativity and I love the ‘art of brewing’ side of things – thinking up new recipes and trialling ways to improve existing ones.
2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now?
Our Hopsmith IPA, always!
3. Best tip for visiting the brewery?
A Saturday late afternoon is always fun, with a food truck, live music and 15 Akasha taps to choose from.
4. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?
NO!
5. If you can only use one hop for the rest of your life, what is it?
Mosaic hop. Bursting with flavour and versatility. versatility.
6. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?

7. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:
- a beach beer? Super Chill Lager
- an airport beer? Hopefully a local beer!
- the end of the day beer? If it was a rough day, our Wooden Leg IIIPA
- the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer? Mosaic IPA, goes with anything.
- to kick back and watch sport with? Super Chill Pacific Ale
8. What’s the future of craft and can Craft Cartel beer lovers get on board?
Local is the key word moving forward. There are lots of great breweries in Australia right now, and supporting local is the key. Cheers!
