1. How was the brewery named?

We were brewing our first beer and we still didn’t have a name. I was having a conversation with my wife and she said “it’s pretty obvious isn’t it. Spotty Dog!” Every time we take our Dalmatian for a walk someone will no doubt walk past and point out the “spotty dog” and so we were born!

2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now?

Spotty Dog Portland Pale and our Limited Release No One Knows. I’ve also always got beer from different mates who own or work at breweries, with favourites being Fox Friday, One Drop and Banks Brewing.

3. Best tip for visiting the brewery?

Ask the team for a tour! They love chatting beer and any chance to showcase what we do is so well received! Also try my version of our house classic chicken shop burger. Fried chicken, bacon, combeback sauce and fermented house hot sauce on the side!

4. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?

Hell yes! But it’s gotta make sense for the right pizza pie!

5. If you can only use one hop for the rest of your life, what is it?

Simcoe! It is the OG king of hops. Or citra….or maybe mosaic….NO SIMCOE FOR SURE!

6. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?

Probably Stone Brewing – but back in 2012. Either that or Russian River Brewing in California.

7. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:

a beach beer? Spotty Dog Cali XPA
an airport beer? Guinness
the end of the day beer? Spotty Dog Portland Pale or a nice tassie lager
the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer? Saison Du Pont
to kick back and watch sport with? Spotty Dog Portland Pale Ale and my mighty Sydney Swans!
