1. How was the brewery named?

During a two month long mountaineering expedition in far east Siberia, on the Kamchatka peninsula, our two founders were finding themselves very hungry and couldn’t stop talking about food & beers, one being a chef, the other a brewer. In those harsh times the comforting dream over a brewery pairing incredible food with moreish beers was born.

2. What beers do you have at home in your fridge now? 

Right now my fridge is packed with Frenchies Belgian styles (Tripel, Quad and barrel aged) and our latest Cool Kids IPA.

3. Best tip for visiting the brewery?

Visit the brewery on a lunch time week days and see the brewer operate their magic!

4. Pineapple on pizza, YES or NO?

Pineapple on pizza must have been an out of the box idea when it started. but it works!

5. If you can only use one hop for the rest of your life, what is it?

For hops, it is a tricky one, my current favourites are Strata and Motueka. But it changes all the time, as we find new techniques to use them and we get new flavours out of them.

6. If you could collaborate with one other brewery, who would you choose?

I’d love to collaborate with Brasserie du Mont Blanc in the French Alps. They make incredible and unique beers. There is nothing alike around here.

7. Some occasions call for the ‘perfect’ beer, what are you reaching for:

• a beach beer? Frenchies Hazy XPA
• an airport beer? A tripel
• the end of the day beer? Cool Kids IPAs
• the ‘best beer with dinner’ beer? Laperouse
• to kick back and watch sport with?  Frenchies Dry

8. What’s the future of craft and can Craft Cartel beer lovers get on board?

The future is ultra local and personalised beer!
