Inspired by a recent Black Hops trip to WA and some generous Busso hospitality from the Rocky Ridge crew, they decided to bring back the Hop Swap concept. Their most popular limited release in 2021 when they collaborated with Behemoth Brewing in NZ, the idea of Hop Swap is simple; they choose one of their favourite hops and they swap it with a like-minded brewery to create a fun collaboration. This release, dubbed a cross-continental IPA brings a slightly East Coast/slightly West Coast IPA taking the low bitterness and big fruit aromas from the East Coast style and the clarity and appearance from the West Coast IPA.
Black Hops Brewing is 3 mates making craft beer and sharing everything they learn along the way. After discussing a concept over beer at the pub, Dan, Eddie and Govs set off to make their first beer, the Eggnog Stout. Once the pilot brew batch was out, their attention quickly turned to doing a proper commercial brew.
They opened the doors to their own brewery and taproom in Burleigh Heads in June 2016.
