Wolf of The Willows Persistence III Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Stout

TASTING NOTES

This release is indeed a show of Persistence, the idea being originally conceived during COVID lockdowns in 2020, it seemed more than apt to partner with The Gospel Whiskey, Australia’s only dedicated Rye Whiskey distillery. Symbolic of the time, ‘Rye’ grain continues to grow even in harshest of conditions. Just like the challenge of a maze, they all take different paths, they all hit dead ends, but with persistence they all grow and come out the other side, much like Rye does. Persistence III, part of the #barrelexchangeproject, is an exceptional Imperial Stout, brewed with a high proportion of rye malt, aged in hand selected Rye Whiskey Solera Barrels from The Gospel. The result is a multilayered, complex Imperial Stout, rich in Rye Whiskey barrel aged flavours of molasses, dark chocolate, cherry, liquorice and espresso. 12% abv

Wolf of the Willows is a brewing company established by Scotty and Renae McKinnon in November 2014. They have a passion for producing hand crafted, modern ales that are distinct in quality, flavour and character – what they like to call ‘Ales of Distinction’.

DID YOU KNOW?

Scotty’s love of brewing started young, helping his dad brew homemade ginger beer on his family’s property in rural Victoria. Years later, time spent as a ski bum in Colorado gave Scotty an introduction to the world of American craft brewing. This, he says, was followed by many years of perfecting beer recipes, growing hops on the family farm and of course, plenty of market research.
