The untouched 1960’s facade of the Philter Public Bar and Brewery building has long been an icon on the streetscape of industrial Marrickville.

Behind the exterior, the old yoghurt factory stood empty for over 10 years before Philter Brwing moved in in late 2019.

The brewery floor houses a state-of-the-art Premier Stainless 4 vessel 25 hL brewhouse with a maximum capacity of 2.5m litres per year. The operation is capable of packaging kegs via a Comac keg cleaner and filler and cartons via a Codi canning line.

Philter Brewing brought the building back to life and have become part of the historical fabric of the suburb loved by so many. At Philter, they really take pride in their deep-rooted connections with the community, brewing unique collaborations that celebrate its vibrant spirit.

In April 2023, Philter installed 158 solar panels and an 82 kWh system at their Marrickville brewery, bar and restaurant. The system is expected to contribute 35% of Philter’s total electricity needs at the site. That’s the equivalent of brewing 1.35m cans of Philter with solar power per year!
