Modus Brewings’ latest limited release takes centre stage of Friday Frothies today as we taste the Phantom of the Calavera Mexican Hot Choc Stout.

As the days begin to turn dark quickly, we’re noticing more of our Cartel turning to stouts. This rich chocolatey stout pours with nice fizz, and molasses-like aromas and is just the ticket!

Rich, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla – velvety like butter warms the palate like baking in a bevy – que the warmth of cinnamon and light peppery spice, and it is one to savour!

The Mexican hot is not overblown, she’s nice and balanced and swirls down easily.

This dark creation would be bliss after hitting the slopes by a fire, but the crescendo of flavours will just as easily have you reaching for an encore at home.

A spicy pairing with a Mexican chilli could be interesting…all the foodies recommend fruit based or chocolate desserts. This definitely could easily just be a stand alone dessert to savour!
